Meningitis B Vaccination: Professional Protection for £150 Per Dose

Understanding Meningitis B

Meningitis B is a serious and potentially life-threatening infection that causes inflammation of the protective membranes surrounding the brain. This dangerous condition can result from either bacterial or viral infections, with transmission occurring through respiratory droplets or close physical contact with infected individuals.

Recognising Critical Symptoms

Symptoms can develop rapidly and include:

  • Severe headaches
  • Muscle and joint discomfort
  • Neck pain or stiffness
  • Elevated temperature
  • Photo-phobia (heightened sensitivity to bright light)
  • Drowsiness, confusion, seizures and potential loss of consciousness

The bacterial form of this infection is distinctively associated with a characteristic purple (purpuric) rash that requires immediate medical attention.

Advanced Vaccination Options

There are currently two vaccines available: ACWY and B. The Meningitis B vaccine represents a significant medical advancement, recently developed and FDA-approved specifically to target the dangerous B strain that has received considerable media coverage in recent months.

Current Availability Status

While the NHS offers this vaccine as part of the routine schedule for specific age groups of children, it is not available through the NHS for children outside the required age parameters. However, our clinic provides Bexsero through private healthcare services to all eligible patients from two months of age.

Following a period of shortage due to exceptionally high demand, we are pleased to confirm that supply restrictions have now been lifted. We can provide this essential vaccine for infants and children who do not qualify under NHS age requirements but wish to commence the course privately. We are currently accepting bookings as normal.

Key Information for Patients

Risk Assessment

For Meningitis B specifically, children under five years of age face the highest risk of infection.

  • Individuals aged 2 years and above require a total of two doses administered 2 months apart
