What is Botox?

Botulinum Toxinis is a Neurotoxin which goes by the brand name ‘Botox’. There are several other brands such as Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau – sometimes reffered to as ‘New-tox’.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles so they are unable to contract; this prevents creasing, wrinkles and fine lines. Many people use Botox to reduce the fine lines around their eyes, often referred to as crows feet. Botox does not prevent wrinkles, but some people have experienced their muscles relaxing over time in the areas injected with Botox, reducing fine lines and wrinkles even after an extended period of time.

How long does it take before seeing results?

It takes approximately 3-5 days to see optimum results. It is important after an appointment not to rub or massage your face, as this can spread the Botox to unwanted areas. Botox can last for around 4 to 6 months.

Is Botox the same as Filler?

Botox and Filler are not the same. Filler ‘fills’ out areas, increasing the volume or thickness of a part of the body such as the lips or cheeks.

Can anyone get botox?

Breastfeeding and pregnant women should avoid getting Botox as well as individuals with any neurological disorders.
